Dear @amnesty, a fair world is built with genuine justice, but you who support rappists and murderers, you love injustice.

The UN voted in favour of a resolution to formally phase out the commonly used 16th century Mercato world map. The resolution rightfully acknowledges that the map’s distortions contribute to a ‘symbolic minimisation’ of Africa, perpetuating historical biases. The resolution encourages governments, schools, tech companies and international organizations to use the Equal Earth projection going forward, which depicts Africa and other continents accurately. In the words of Togo’s foreign minister Robert Dussey who spearheaded the resolution, "a fair world begins with a fair map."

Must-watch video: Earlier this month in Tripoli, UN-recognized Prime Minister Dabaiba and CBL Governor Naji Issa addressed the same issue on the same stage: unsustainable #profligacy emptying state coffers this year, which will end with a gigantic dollar deficit. Overall spending will probably exceed 300 billion dinars; a real catastrophe.
The two men contradict each other starkly: Issa essentially places the Haftar-controlled government of Prime Minister Usama Hammad in Benghazi on the same level as the UN-recognized Dabaiba government in Tripoli. This implies both governments should merge to reduce spending by rationalizing ministries. Such an approach would align with the UN’s late August roadmap phrase: “new unified government.”
But Dabaiba sees things differently. For him, the problem is the Benghazi government’s very existence. The Tripoli government is legitimate while the Benghazi one ought to disappear.
Amid the rhetorical battle, inaction persists. The CBL quietly announced it had to generate dollars by selling $8bn in assets from its reserves, including gold. That reflects $6.5bn burned through in just one month (you read that right).
The situation is alarming.
Its easy to spend when you're Prime Minister, a socialist & a complete twat!
