Bc in #FamilyCourt children are routinely forced to spend time w abusers & criminals even though child has a safe home w the non criminal/abuser parent.
This is due to #procontact culture & junk science labels like “alienation” used to silence the @safe_parents and children

I knew growing up I was different even as a child.
I had niche interests.
I'd get anxious easily. I would analyse conversations for hours.
I knew I didn't explain myself well.
My morals were so strong nothing would sway me.
I'd speak when I shouldn't.
I'd flap my hands or go from foot to foot. (I stopped doing this publicly when I was young as I knew it wasn't acceptable)
I hate dry hands and feet.
I hate odd numbers.
I won't lie
I can be quite blunt but also very empathetic.
I'd avoid eye contact many times I still do unless it's people im close with
Emotional reactions
Repetitive behaviours.
I was good in school I never got in trouble.
I passed every subject.
I know facts about my niche interests.
I'll watch the same programme over and over again.
I can get bored and then lose focus
It was only when I was on a course for my son who's #Autistic that I realised I actually fit into so many boxes.
Socially for years I've struggled.
It was like a light bulb moment.
I read up about autism did some indepth tests which all scored me really high.
Spoke to my GP even she could see it and the multidisciplinary team could see it too.
So now I'm waiting for my assessment.
Finding out your #Neurodivergent in your 30's has made me question everything about myself, my life.
It's giving me more understanding for my son though as I can preempt things. I prepare him but also try and teach him independence.
It gives you I think an understanding you wouldn't otherwise have had.
My youngest is showing some traits.
My children are children with their own personalities they are not a disability
#Neurodivergent parents are good parents.
#FamilyCourt shouldn't be using this against parents and taking their children.
Children who are #Autistic #SEND #SEN #ASD #Autism shouldn't be treated the way they are by family court.
We need understanding the D&E case which was done by HHJ Middleton-Roy is the only judgement which put the right assessment and measures in for an autistic parent. Due to this the outcome in that case totally changed.
There needs to be more done on this.
I've seen cases where parents have 3 children and it's been said they can only look after 1. Or 2 children and they can only look after 1. If they can look after 1 they can look after 2 just as anyone else.
Our autistic children also deserve there to be legal guidance and appropriate assessment. As well as not taking a blanket approach in cases. This is causing absolute travesty to the children and parents.
