A few things have changed these days for founders and what may have been considered to be adequate in the past no longer are. Here are some simple things every v1 of a product should have.
1) Flexible login
- Login via Google/Apple/LinkedIn/Meta/Microsoft should be a default these days.
- Login via FaceID or any other biometric should be a an automatic.
- Mandatory 2FA should be a default - whether via passkey or whatever.
I mentioned this to a founder a 3pm one day - he had another version rolled out at 5:30pm. This is not a lot of work - but its sheer laziness if you don't incorporate in your MVP. Lack of it shows you truly are thinking prototype - gives no confidence to investors.
Also includes basic password reset capabilities with a pleasant email - not just default text. Again - use ChatGPT to come up with the text if you don't know what to write.
2) A good dashboard/home page
- Dashboards are the easiest thing to implement nowadays - used to be a big deal in the past, now its table stakes
3) A good personalised demo/walkthrough/AI companion
- Again - it's unacceptable to me to be thrown into a complex tool without good synthetic data to help me visualize how I would use this product and without an assistant guiding me
4) If possible - integration with WhatsApp - especially for an Indian or emerging markets audience
5) Simple sharee features - with a promo code a la the Dropbox code (both of us get $5 of credits)
6) A sequence of welcome messages/emails over the first week and then weekly - that are personalized but not spammy - showing the humility of a founder wanting feedback and continuously building some new capabilities, ideally thanking the community for their inputs
7) A public dashboard showing signups, usage, feedback and comments - ideally dovetailing it into a community
8) A content blog/X-thread/video showcasing your nuanced understanding of the problem - a momentum post every week showing how well the market is adopting your product
9) Showcasing and applauding your team members who are building these amazing things - gives confidence you are building an "org" especially for b2b companies
10) A monthly newsletter that goes out to everyone - especially investors - about the progress of the company, even if not overly positive.
Employees, Founders, Founder/Employee Families & people who write checks are all investors in a startup - it's important to keep them all informed and ideally excited.
Every one of these features can be mostly implemented as horizontal infra but are as important as core functional capabilities for whatever problem you are solving.
Thoughts welcome...of course all this assumes you have a product that is potentially valuable to the end users :)
Your colleagues are not your friends. There is a reason English has different words for the two: colleagues and friends. #RandomMondaythoughts
Slightly off my usual tweet course but listening to Avalon by Roxy Music while walking the dog and thinking it has to be the sexiest song ever written! Thoughts? #randomMondaythoughts
We often forget that the Men In Black are a part of Marvel. Now, imagine if Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones randomly show up in the MCU, would that be too crazy? #RandomMondayThoughts
Elezens have long necks~ it just means more surface area for bites and kisses to be painted on.. #RandomMondayThoughts
I wonder if becoming a merman would significantly alleviate the pain in my upper leg? #RandomMondayThoughts

Two things I find super calming - one is to watch a sprinkler watering a yard. (no idea why but it is lol) Two is looking at a decorated Christmas tree. #randomMondaythoughts
I miss my gora cousin from Switzerland😂😂 #RandomMondayThoughts
Neither of my cats have ever worn a collar. They would probably freak if we tried.
They also don't like the outside, never try to run out when we open the door, so I'm not worried about it.

Entitlement is really crippling the young ones & hurting progress. On which basis should your partner, senior bro, or uncle cater for you again?? You're depleting them. Cultivate a desire for independence. Self-sufficiency is empowering. Thank me later. #randomMondaythoughts
When I grew up, especially in primary school, I used to get picked on (nowadays called bullying) for my nose! Needless to say, people are paying a lot of money to reshape their noses nowadays! But angikho lapho😃😃😃

Since we're on the last season of #InsecureHBO, I got a question. Does Chad still go with Leah? To this day, I can't remember seeing this girl 😂😂😂 #RandomMondayThoughts
keep things fun, keep things moving
continue to learn new things,
open up eyes to the world
be quick, but not rushed,
have a good rhythm
learn to enjoy me-time,
giving room to breath, grow & re-adjust
life is good when we feel fulfilling!

Y’all remember Pepsi did a “We Will Rock You” commercial with Beyoncé, Pink, & Britney Spears?
I used to kill that commercial & probably sounded terrible 😂😂😂

Every time we rewatch @GilmoreGirls, I dread the impending April storyline. I've never understood the way it was written or why it was even written. #RandomMondayThoughts #EditingPicsWithNetflix @RonRigdon
