Both fires started Tuesday, July 9, approximately one mile north of Kearny. The fires started within hours of one another on the southwest side of SR 177 within a drainage.

No new growth on either fire overnight. Both fires stayed w/n their footprint w/minimal to moderate fire behavior.
🔥Ray Fire: 30% contained at 51 acres.
🔥Shake Fire: 110 acres w/no containment at this time.
Today crews will continue with mop up on both fires, checking for any remaining heat sources. On the Shake Fire crews still engaged around homes checking for heat & smokes. GO still in effect for some areas of Kearny.
200 personnel assigned, including hand crews, engines, & water tender. Aircraft on standby if needed.
