🚨 IT’S OFFICIAL: Elections BC has approved my petition to REPEAL DRIPA. David Eby and the NDP refused to act. Now British Columbians have the chance to. BC Conservatives are ready to lead this fight. As the Official Opposition, we will keep holding this government to account every step of the way. From Oct. 26 to Jan. 25, we need British Columbians across all 93 ridings to come together. For property rights, jobs and B.C.’s future, join us. Let’s repeal DRIPA.

This piece lays out an uncomfortable truth: the NDP is behaving as if it can do anything it wants with public land in British Columbia. In its pursuit of “decolonization,” the NDP government has been working to “return” as much land as possible as quickly as possible to Aboriginal communities, many of which are tiny in terms of on-reserve residents. This is all part of the radical land back agenda. Parks and protected areas that British Columbians clearly voted to keep for the use and benefit of everyone in the 2002 referendum are now being treated as surplus and lined up for transfer. These deals are being negotiated with almost no meaningful public input. This is not careful, transparent public interest governance. It is an ideological land back agenda that treats the broader public interest as secondary.

That’s the whole problem with this NDP government. They consider a few Instagram posts with a couple thousand views to be adequate public consultation and engagement when transferring tens on millions of $ worth of land in the heart of the provincial capital. I didn’t once raise the merits of the land transfer, but the process undertaken. Of course the Minister reverts to leftist talking points of fear mongering, misinformation, and anti-indigenous to attempt to gaslight her government’s poor handling of the entire file. I wonder what Minister Lore’s position is on her government’s proposed upcoming changes to DRIPA which are a provincial necessity? Will she follow Minister Greene’s lead and break ranks with Cabinet? #bcpoli
