What's the largest possible girth (length of a smallest cycle) in a graph on n vertices & nd/2 edges? Alon, Hoory & Linial prove it's <= 2 \log_(d-1) n - sharp up to the "2" in front (~"Moore bound"). What about 3 & more generally, k-uniform hypergraphs? 🧵

While sqrt(n)-space lower bounds arise naturally in streaming CSPs, linear bounds are much harder. Kapralov, Krachun gave linear bounds for Max-CUT; our work builds on this to give linear space bounds for many more Max-CSPs! With Fourier analytic fun along the way! #STOC2022 2/n

Saw a great talk by Seth Pettie (@UMichCSE) at #STOC2022 on Byzantine agreement. Problem reduces to Byzantine coin flipping. Can detect up to n/4 failed servers manipulating the sign of the sum of random -1/+1 coin flips in poly(n) rounds! https://t.co/0SFOxVtHHi
