@CPSummitCounty Alcohol interacts with a ton of prescription medications. Alcohol can increase risk of bleeding with blood thinners like warfarin, increase risk of overdose with benzodiazepines and opioids, and increase the risk of liver damage with medications like acetaminophen #SafeRxChat

@CPSummitCounty I struggle with that too! A simple daily phone alert is an option for many people. The classic 7-day pillbox is also a great visual. Lastly, call your pharmacist- they can help you figure out how many days should be left in your bottle and get you back on track. #SafeRxChat

@CPSummitCounty @KarilynnDowling My advice would be to try and develop a routine and stick with it. Everyone is going to be different when it comes to what reminders work, but setting an alarm, keeping a journal, pairing taking your medication with everyday activities like brushing your teeth or having coffee!

@CPSummitCounty #SafeRxChat To ensure that you're getting the most potent, safe product, it's recommended to not take medication beyond the expiration date. They may not be as effective, especially if they are used to manage a complicated disease state such as heart disease.
@CPSummitCounty A1: Second, the biannual DEA Drug Take Back Day scheduled for April 2020 was postponed indefinitely. When I volunteer at those events, I hear from many citizens who think it is the only opportunity of the year to dispose of their meds. That's actually not true. #SafeRxChat
