This is public infrastructure — it’s good for our economy, it’s good for public safety, it’s good for people.
I have heard from so many Albertans about the massive impact of Greyhound’s departure in 2018. While some companies have stepped in to help fill the gap, we can do more — and my team will. We will work in partnership with the transportation carriers that have come into the market and would supplement where necessary.
Albertans should be able to travel around this province whether they have a car or not. This is about connecting communities — it’s about building an economy that works for people.
I have heard loud and clear from Alberta NDP members that we need a better rural strategy to run on in 2027 and I am making it clear here and now that rural transportation would be a major piece of our offer.

It says the carrier is Greyhound. Here's a clue it's wrong. Greyhound hasn't provided service anywhere in Saskatchewan since prior to the pandemic!

With #SaveSTC there was at least a chance of service to small towns. Now, there's basically nothing, & maybe a local provider.

@PDcityhall They could use #carsharing once they arrive via inter-city transit. Well, aside from the point that #SaveSTC failed, and there's no municipal push to expand it.
@Captain_Farbot @ClarityRosewood @thebone87 @ctvregina @GlobalRegina should really correct that story. There isn't a public transit service in Canada making money. They have to serve routes and towns that private operators won't. It's like saying @YQRTransit didn't make money, because they aren't expected to.

The goal of transit systems isn't to turn a profit. Just like the goal of schools isn't to turn a profit, even though they, too, add enormous value to society.
@astevensward3 There were many efficiencies that weren't pursued. Smaller vehicles. Less frequency. Consolidating routes. Burning it down is just a big middle finger to the people that needed it.
