Can't wait to compare this with the PA scope document being produced by @RCPhysicians plus list of tasks that PAs *cannot* do (re internal medicine). Watch this space folks! Meanwhile, the sooner there's a PAUSE on PA rollout, the safer we patients will be ✅

@drmattuk @UMAPsUK @pa_StephenNash To me this looks like a low-key poster presentation from a conference but lacks academic rigour or integrity since *none* of the limitations of the role are presented. And why the 'adverts'? I'd give it a 3/10 at best! 😐

Never mind the GMC, it's no longer fit for purpose. Patients will vote with their feet! Nothing personal, just a safety thing whether PAs choose to believe it or not.

@NewcastleHosps No wonder their lives are shorter when you allow underqualified physician associates to run cancer clinics performing procedures that they aren’t knowledgeable enough to do .
@NewcastleHosps how is this safe for patients ? How can a dependent PA make autonomous decisions ?
@Jean_Jeannie1 @Cray_tweets1 But this is the whole point, is a PA adequately trained to carry out the procedure *safely*? - which involves knowing what to do if something goes wrong. For me the answer is NO.

@ClinOncDoc It's terrible that PAs were fed a lie by their training establishments etc, but as a patient I dearly hope that this *rapidly* brings an end to the unsafe, unregulated PA experiment. We want DOCTORS *not* PAs.

📝 Damning summary from the Coroner:
🚨 “There is no national framework as to how Physician Associates should be trained, supervised & deemed competent. This is placing both patients, PAs & their employers at risk.
🚨 The court heard that since the death of Mrs Pollitt the Northern Care Alliance have put in place a local trust framework. Unlike all other clinical roles there is no national guidance save for very recent guidance issued by the British Medical Association (March 2024).
🚨 Whilst the competency form assessed the technical aspect of placing the drain, it did NOT include competency around the wider aspects of care such as taking consent, risk factors & after care.”
📢 @gmcuk @NHSEngland we have been telling you for months PA training is NOT up to the mark, they are not makeshift doctors & you haven’t been listening!!
