@sblitz1 @DanielAlpert @FT Here's how to do it, Steve. Banks still lend, then discount at the relevant Fed District Bank as before 1935. My many #SpreadTheFed papers show how much more productive - as distinguished from speculative - that arrangement was. https://t.co/B8WexKMhDa
#GISPscholar Robert Hockett's new paper tackles the need to spread the Fed and manage public capital publicly.

This opportunity to discuss, before Colorado legislators, restoration of our Fed's original function as a network of regional development banks, now in the cause of Building Back Better and Greener, was great fun. #SpreadTheFed #BuildBackBetter #GND https://t.co/nk3I12rtl6
This will simply be a return to (a 21st century rendition of) the Fed we once had and were meant by its founders to have. #SpreadTheFed https://t.co/R9XXdFZMJW
7/digital currency (CBDC) - are intended as replacements for deposits in private banks. The new Fed would have an expanded asset portfolio including loans to fund infrastructure projects, as well as loans to private banks that would serve as a means to direct the flow of...

A more productively allocative Fed is the Fed we had until 1935. It is a better model - less New York, more U.S., just as Carter Glass and Paul Warburg envisioned. #SpreadTheFed https://t.co/PIhx0POIkH
9/proposals I have seen for banking and central bank reform, and would entail a large increase in centralization - in decisions on how resources are allocated, and in power. There are good reasons for having central banks that are independent, and limited in what they can do,...
#GISPscholar Robert Hockett argues that central banks like the Fed must engage in at least some degree of credit-allocation and that one way to achieve this is by spreading the Fed.

To be clear, this stuff isn't literally directly investable, it's an accounting by-product of how we do QE. Point here is that QE can be done more productively. #SpreadTheFed #CentralBankAllocation
@michaelxpettis We would do well to do likewise with US firms that tap public capital in the form of Fed bond-buying and backstopping. #CapitalCommons #SpreadTheFed https://t.co/fthNWWVs6P
Imagine (a) doing this with businesses that tap public capital in the form of Fed bond-buying and discounting, and (b) measuring 'performance' with a view not to profit alone, but to production. #SpreadTheFed #CapitalCommons #WealthOfOurCommonwealth https://t.co/zLBs9ydKB9
Again, realize that the task is to use a pair of two-bladed 'scissors.' First Blade: disaggregate 'inflation' (and 'deflation') across markets. Second blade: modulate it in all markets in which it is credit-driven. #SpreadTheFed #TwoBladedScissorsFed https://t.co/X8MNjewEfR
2/2 ... (a) *why* monetary is all that we've had for so long - that is, WTF is wrong with our legislators - and (b) how monetary policy *itself* can be made more productively allocative. More on that on the way! #SpreadTheFed
Banks tell you they engage in 'maturity transformation' - borrow short, lend long - to fund production efficiently. That isn't what they do. But the Fed could do it, were it to purchase production-associated investment paper as it used to do. #SpreadTheFed https://t.co/OcS0LgNNA8
2/3 ... Perpetual Central Bank Put' (PCBP) can be fully neutralized, to immensely beneficial effect, by what I'll call 'Perpetual Central Bank Productive Investment' (PCBPI). #SpreadTheFed as I've been advocating under that tag, and put the District Feds back into productive ...

@POTUS Joe, invoke #MMT to explain to those who do not need help that we don’t need their tax dollars to spend . And educate them about #SpreadTheFed
