A church was originally founded here by #StAldhelm in C7th. The Viking Cnut destroyed it in 1015 and then built a new church after converting to Christianity in 1030.

Outside #Sherborne Abbey in Dorset is this statue of #StAldhelm. He was the Abbot of Malmesbury, Bishop of Sherborne, Latin poet and scholar of Anglo-Saxon literature. He was descended from the royal house of Wessex and born before the middle of the 7th century. So now you know!
