Only 9% people disclosed their status to Teacher/Administrator according to #StigmaIndexReport Disclosure is important because it leads to improved adherence hence avoiding #HIV progression. Therefore, support full disclosure of HIV status among the children and adolescents

Today,we were part of the #StigmaIndexReport launch by our partner @NAFOPHANU at their headquarters in Mengo.The index survey was carried out to estimate the prevalence of HIV related stigma and discrimination among PLHIV in order to develop evidence based responsive strategies

On stage the Chief Guest Ms. Nicole McHugh, called upon the partners to tackle the root causes of HIV #StigmaIndexReport. She also noted that they are happy to note that 99% of the people are accessing ARVs.

The first National #StigmaIndexReport was launched in 2013, the 2019 report revealed that the internal stigma has reduced from 50% in 2013 to 24 % in 2019. It also revealed the level of resilience is very high in Karamoja and Bugishu regions while Teso registered the lowest.

The #StigmaIndexReport reveals that the external stigma in Uganda has reduced greatly. Unlike the internal stigma is still very high. PLHIV are called upon to reduce internal stigma so that they can live a good quality life. @UNYPA1 @SRHRAllianceUg @STFUganda @IrelandEmbGB
