Under the rule of HTS-led Government, Alawite communities in Syria face deliberate and systematic starvation. Since his rise to power, thousands of Alawite employees have been dismissed from their jobs, over 10,000 families have lost breadwinners to arbitrary detention, and retirees have seen their pensions cut off entirely.
Dozens of sectarian checkpoints surround Alawite villages, turning them into open-air prisons where kidnapping, theft, and humiliation are daily realities. Agricultural lands, homes, and vehicles are routinely set ablaze or seized, and in many areas, Alawites are extorted to pay tribute simply to avoid being attacked.
The minimal aid that enters the coast is being disproportionately diverted to favored Sunni communities, leaving Alawite families with nothing, not even bread for Eid.
In this war of deprivation, hunger has no religion. But history will remember who wielded it as a weapon.
