Some BIG changes coming to the #TAO ecosystem. The first TGIFT back in almost two years, did not disappoint. Here are some updates from tonights #TGIFT🧵 1. Root Auto-sell, No Longer Mandatory As of Monday, you'll be able to toggle if you want your interest on Root to come as TAO "Risk Free Yield", Or as a basket of alpha tokens. Thoughts: - Not sure if you will be able to select the alpha tokens or you'll have to get all alpha tokens "Dust" as a result - Could put Trusted Stake business model slightly at risk - Could be an interesting opportunity for DATs to differentiate themselves by holding different baskets of Alpha tokens 2. Updates coming to how we calculate TAO emissions into subnets. My basic understanding... Old Calculation: Alpha Price New Calculation: TAO emissions will be calcluated by a moving average of the TAO flow in/out of your liquidity pool over time. In Simple Terms: If TAO flows into the liquidity pool are increasing (Positive Motion), emissions increase. If TAO is flowing out, (Negative Motion), emissions decrease. Reason: While price is a good indicator of value, it is technically what we're trying to incentivize. What we are trying to incentivize are subnets that are good at "sequestering" TAO. Subnets sequester TAO by getting people to buy into their liquidity pools. More TAO in liquidity pools, less TAO to be sold on open market. Thoughts: - This should accelerate the death of extractive subnets - This should drive high emissions for "top of mind" subnets - This should reduce the benefit of having early subnets with large liquidity pools - Subnet emission schedule will become less stable - This will shake up the subnet leaderboards on Taostats more often

My basic understanding...

Old Calculation: Alpha Price
