⚡#TMED is delivering!
Glad to announce that, together with @EIB, we are signing the first flagship project under #TMED in Egypt 🇪🇬: a major investment to modernise and expand the country's electricity grid.
💶 Backed by €690 million in EU 🇪🇺support, the project is expected to mobilise up to €1.6 billion in total investment.
🌱 It will help integrate 22 GW of renewable energy by 2030 - reaching 42% of total energy production from renewables.
🏡 Power around 10 million homes - while strengthening Egypt 🇪🇬 ’s role as a regional energy hub and creating opportunities for local and European businesses.
This is what the #PactfortheMediterranean is about.
Together with @DanJoergensen, on the opening day of #EUSEW2026, we proudly presented #TMED.
Our common goal is clear: mobilise investment in renewable energy and clean technologies, strengthen energy cooperation with our partners, and create new opportunities for businesses and communities.
A stronger, greener and more connected Mediterranean is in the interest of Europe and our partners alike.
The Mediterranean has the potential to become a global clean energy hub.
Through #TMED - a flagship initiative of the #PactfortheMediterranean, we want to turn potential into projects, projects into investments, and investments into jobs and growth.

🔹 At least 15 GW of renewable energy capacity
🔹 More than 100,000 new jobs
Together with the private sector, we are building a more secure, prosperous and resilient Mediterranean.

At the opening of #EUSEW, I will present the #TMED Initiative, a key part of the #PactForTheMediterranean, which aims to boost renewable energy investment and cooperation in clean-tech industries across the region.
Later, I will host my third Implementation Dialogue, focused on creating more opportunities for the EU private sector to invest in our partner countries.
Competitiveness is one of our key 🇪🇺 priorities. We want European companies to succeed and make the most of the opportunities offered by the green transition, for the benefit of both Europe and our partners.
I look forward to hearing directly from companies and stakeholders about how we can remove barriers to investment and turn opportunities into concrete results.

Energy is central to 🇪🇺 -🇩🇿 partnership. We value Algeria’s reliability as a gas supplier. Under the #PactfortheMediterranean and #TMED we will create new opportunities for energy transition, decarbonisation and stepping up on renewables, green hydrogen, and strengthening clean energy value chains.

In Munich, I met with Andrew Forrest @FortescueNews to explore collaboration under the Pact for the Mediterranean and our #TMED, to accelerate large-scale investment across the region.
The Mediterranean has world-class potential for renewable electricity, hydrogen and clean-tech manufacturing.
But potential alone is not enough. We need capital, infrastructure and EU partners to turn ambition into delivery.
