There are currently 4 people detained by ICE at the jail. We already got to 0 once and we will do it again as many times as we need to until they #TerminateTheContract once and for all. 💪
We're absolutely sure this will blow your mind away 🤯
Let's do the math:
ICE pays YCJ $158.13 per bed per day.
This amounts to a minimum of $23,719.50 per day.
Over $8.65million per year! 💰
Another #12ReasonsForClosure why we say #TerminateTheContract between YCJ & ICE!
It is an honor to fight alongside the #FreeTheYuba11 coalition, partners such as @pangealegal who co-hosted this press conference together with formerly detained folks. Hand in hand we keep the movement going and won’t stop until we’ve reached our goal: #TerminateTheContract
“Detention is always bad, but especially at Yuba County Jail, because of its history of mental health neglect."
— Laura Duarte Bateman from @CCIJustice
Organizers are demanding the Biden admin. to stop locking up undocumented immigrants at that facility.

5/12 WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED @AliMayorkas? Even @DHSgov has called YCJ out for violating their own standards. It is empty! Previously detained folks are complying w everything asked of them and have proven they are not a flight risk/danger to society.
#TerminateTheContract NOW
Today we gathered in front of the SF Detained Court to protest the news of possible repopulation at YCJ.
As of now there is no one detained by ICE at YCJ and we want to keep it that way! The only way to do that is to #TerminateTheContract @AliMayorkas
We were with @PangeaLegal and @CCIJustice in San Francisco today to ask @SecMayorkas @DHSgov to #TerminateTheContract between ICE and the Yuba County Jail! We have always been safer with our community members at home and not locked away in cages, and we must #ShutYubaDown!
The current contract also provides that ICE pay YCJ for a minimum of 150-beds per day, amounting to $23,719.50 PER DAY or over $8.65 million a year. Yuba County continues to receive this payment regardless of capacity. It’s time to #TerminateTheContract #ShutDownYuba

@SecMayorkas The ICE contract with Yuba County Jail (YCJ) has been amended numerous times since the initial signing to include:
🔘 1) to lease up to 220 beds to ICE, half of the total jail capacity; and
🔘2) to extend “indefinitely.”

EOIR confirmed that new detained dockets in the SF immigration court will begin on 12/15. This means that ICE will begin to repopulate the Yuba County Jail with immigrants in ICE custody on or around that date.
Here's how you can help to #TerminateTheContract & #ShutYubaDown!👇🏾

Yuba County Jail is known for 2 things:
1️⃣40+ yrs of human rights violations
2️⃣ Being the last CA jail used by ICE to detain our community members.
