This is being described across outlets as a broad “blue wave” or even a historic rout, with Democrats flipping seats deep into traditionally Republican territory. As of late night November 3 / early November 4 (MST), major networks and papers (BBC, Washington Post, USA Today, NBC, Politico, etc.) have called both chambers for Democrats, though some races are still being counted. ### Senate Democrats are around **53 seats** (roughly +7 net gain), with Republicans near 41–42.
