The Eastern & Southern Africa Regional Consultation on Sustainable #FoodFortification & #UniversalSaltIodization held in #Mombasa #Kenya, concludes with key resolutions. “Africa has diverse and sustainable diet. We need to go back to our indigenous food systems” – Leila Odhiambo @MOH_Kenya. The event co-hosted by @ECSA_HC & @SADC_News brought together 102 participants from 17 countries, 11 development partners and private sector, with support from @UNICEF @WHO @FAO @WFP @TechnoServe @USAID @GAINalliance @iodineglobal @NutritionIntl, among others.

Reinforcing our commitment to #UniversalSaltIodization @NutritionIntl 🇮🇳 held a workshop in #Chhattisgarh to support the National Iodine Deficiency Disorder Control Program. Officials discussed about the role of frontline workers in testing #iodizedsalt & timely reporting.
Globally use of iodized salt should be encouraged rather than any supplement in tablet or oral form. This is the best way to prevent from iodine deficiency disorders and improved cognitive skills
