Was just thinking about this (how to get safe from violent drivers) as I was walking past a place on lake street where I’d witnessed a driver try to run over/hit 2-3 teenagers with his car.

This diverter in St Johns literally saved my life while fleeing from a motorist after I slightly inconvenienced him by taking the lane to avoid 30 yards of broken glass and car parts that were littering the bike lane.
It's good to know where all of these are, for that reason.
On my bike ride home tonight I was struck with the sad realization that if @CityMinneapolis can't keep a memorial and close the intersection where one of "their finest" murdered one of their citizens, there is no hope of them closing any intersections.

People driving the wrong way around the roundabout and two semis driving a few feet away from where people were paying their respects. All within ten minutes of visiting. How is this public safety? How has this made @GeorgeFloydSQ safer? Would love an answer, @MayorFrey!

The ride was generally uneventful, but FYI to anyone passing through: 17th ave "bike boulevard" is 1-lane and heavily rutted. The worst street I've seen this year.

Sabo bridge is an ice rink. #1 bike city in the USA where on the city's #1 bike trail you choose between battling this and crossing a poorly lit highway.
The thought came to me as I crossed Highway 55 on the 24th st bridge.
I climbed higher than the sound walls or any nearby building -- just to "cross the street".
With the Sabo Bridge in the distance to boot.

Today in Tangletown, I was crossing the street (with ROW) and a teen driving an SUV wasn't slowing.
I kept making eye contact and they finally stopped halfway through the intersection (48th & Wentworth).
Kid was just blowing bubble gum. no shame.
WTF SMH.

Wow. I crossed this intersection 3 times today, and they are also milling the intersection of Minnehaha/26th/28th, where I also biked through faster than the cars.
Maybe periodic bumps are good infrastructure for safe driving?

And today on my bike ride along 28th st, I witnessed a drag race between Nicollet and 4th. PBLs don't protect against that type of negligence.

In some good news for the day, I rode 28th st instead of the Greenway, and with Minneapolis reducing the signal timing from 30mph to 25, I waited at lights a whole lot less.
Like, coast from the alley to the intersection and the light would turn green!

I'm riding down Franklin hill, and at the point where the bike lane disappears, I signal my left turn. I get honked at for signaling and then a vehicle zooms past.

Some takeaways:
UsBank Stadium is undergoing an extensive residing event.
Making eye-contact with motorists at crosswalks makes them speed up and not stop.
Motorists slow for construction workers, but not me crossing a curb-cut.
