Asking open-ended questions provides an entry point for all levels of learners. All students are able to think about the task! Number lines and other representations provide students with a visual anchor for the learning. #visualrepresentations
“What do you notice?”, “What do you wonder?” Students are learning about time to the hour using a number line. They are also playing a game called One Minute to Win, where students roll a die over and over for a minute and count the number of 3s they get!

Subtraction can just mean difference! Using an open number line to find the difference between the larger and smaller numbers. Making friendly jumps and then collecting those “jumps” helps us find the difference! #visualrepresentations
