@Lord_Of_Warri @inecnigeria I think a better solution to these is to merge our Itsẹkiri people back to Ondo or carve a state for them called Warri State. #AworiState #IjebuState #WarriState
@DSGovernment @NGRSenate We the itsekiri people, want WARRI state, you can't be using our 40 percentage crude oil to enriched other tribe while we are in a state of comatus.
From now on we shall blow up all the oil facilities in WARRI kingdom it's a promise.

It's astonishing that the federal government of Nigeria can deploy DSS agents to Warri to kidnap itsekiri’s, yet they cannot send representatives to engage with Itsekiri and Ilaje graduates who are peacefully demanding job opportunities from companies operating in their ancestral lands as host communities to the oil companies.

@DSGovernment and Federal government won't listen to you because you guys don't pick up arms easily so they don't fear you guys if it was Fulani and ijaw they would have come to your aid ever since.

PRESS RELEASE!!
POSITION OF THE ITSEKIRI ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION INITIATIVE (IEPI) ON RECURRING OCEAN SURGE DILEMMA ACROSS WARRI, DELTA STATE.
We the members of Itsekiri Environmental Protection Initiative, IEPI call on the Delta State and the Federal Government of Nigeria to as a matter of urgency, include shore protection of Itsekiri communities suffering from ocean surge in the 2025 budget. This call we made this day, Wednesday, 13th of November, 2025, in Ode-Ugborodo, Warri South-West of Delta State, during a second round of our on-site impact assessment visits to inspect the effects of ocean surge affecting the communities.
It will be recalled some time ago in July, we raised the alarm of the ocean surge affecting Ogheye via multiple news media after a viral video of it surfaced on social media. This led to the Office of Sole Representative to the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR to NNPCL and her JV partners switch response by sending relief materials, went to on-site/impact assessment (accompanied by representatives of IEPI), and geared advocacy on the ocean surge predicament. Later on, Delta State government representatives led by Hon. Fred Martins, representing the Warri North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly also visited. Nevertheless, there has not been positive feedback in terms of finding a lasting solution to the re-occurrence year-in and year-out other than unfulfilled promises from the government of the day at all levels.
It is worth noting that the issue of Ocean surge affecting Itsekiri communities is not restricted to the Ogheye and Orere and adjoining communities but also stretches towards Ugborodo (Ode-Ugborodo, Aja-Udiabo, Ogidigben) through Ago-Gboro not forgetting Eghoro, all in Warri North and Warri South-West local government areas of Delta State. Therefore, we chose to come over to Ugborodo for an on-site/impact assessment, the same as we did a few months ago, on the 9th of September, at Ogheye, Orere, and adjoining communities.
Given the contribution of the Itsekiri ethnic nationality to the Nigeria economy via crude oil exploration quantum amounting to about 40% after the recent discovery of more oil fields around the same Ogheye-Orere area, we therefore for the sake of a sustainable solution to this menace use this medium to call for the urgent inclusion of the protection of all ocean surge affected communities of the Itsekiri ethnic nationality in the 2025 budget by both the state and federal government.
Aside from advocacy and on-site/impact assessment of affected communities, as a professional organization, the IEPI has also set up an internal impact assessment report committee (ongoing) led by a practitioner with a track record in the field of environmental impact assessment, Mr. Egere Weyinmi to give a professional insight of causes (climate change, crude oil exploration, etc.), negative impacts, and sustainable solutions to this critical issue at hand.
On behalf of Itsekiris from the ocean surge-affected communities and the entire people of Warri Kingdom, with all urgency, we request the Delta State and Federal Government of Nigeria via their executives/ministries and/or various agencies make provision of sustainable solutions in 2025 with impactful budgeted measures which are to include; firstly, the sending of relief materials to affected habitats, secondly, the building of sea break walls also known as shore Protection walls, thirdly, rehabilitation/reintegration/resettlement of affected persons, and finally, putting in place essential infrastructural/developmental and economic driven projects.

The call for a #WarriState isn't because we want to control the vast oil resources, that is the reason for the voices against it, all we seek is a chance to live without the constant empty threats from our neighbours as aided my state mechanism. The post below is evident.
Majority of Urhobo people want to see Itsekiri people dead, don't let anyone deceive you that it's just online battles, it's not. You can see the Urhobo people's comments, one said "blood on all Itsekiri people", another one said "Itsekiri people need to be mass murdered", and another said "a newborn Itsekiri child is my enemy" (meaning he can kill a newborn Itsekiri child, that's how much they hate us) and the last one said "we are the reason these people are still alive today" (suggesting that because they haven't taken the step to attack and kill us all, is the reason we Itsekiri's are still alive today).
Whenever I stand up for my people, I'm accused of being paranoid or of instigating the conflict. Recently, an Itsekiri girl who had blocked me due to my stance against the growing Urhobo threat to our people unblocked me and shared voice notes detailing the horrific treatment she suffered at the hands of Urhobo individuals when they discovered her ethnicity. I was not surprised, and I plan to share these voice notes once I have her permission. The reality is that many Urhobo people want us dead, and there's no way to sugarcoat this truth. They are eager for war with us, convinced that they will emerge victorious.
The reason Urhobo's are so eager to start a war is because they have never seen one, unlike what Okumagba saw the last time he dare us. They also forgot—or perhaps never knew—that Itsekiri's fought both on land and sea, against both Ijaws and Urhobo's, and yet remained unconquered. What, then, do you think will transpire in a mere land battle?
When Ijaws attempted to invade Ugbori, to burn the Olu palace to the ground, all twenty of them perished that very day. A grim reminder of the Itsekiri's strong defense on land battles. I pose the same question to the Urhobo's today: What do you think will be the consequence if you dare spill the blood of even one Itsekiri?
This is a solemn warning to those Urhobos who casually consider warfare. Reconsider your folly, for the Itsekiri's land is sacred and its position will not change. It would be wise to remember the lessons of history, as they echo loudly still. You can either live in peace on our lands in Warri or retreat to Ughelli if you wish to initiate a conflict. Know that we will not allow Warri to burn again, and if you start this, the outcome will not be in your favor. We offer peace, but you will face severe consequences should war break out.

Did you know? Abacha promised Warri State to Itsekiris if they betrayed Awolowo & Abiola, but they refused! Instead, he created Bayelsa State for Ijaws & armed them against Itsekiris. Let's support Warri State for Itsekiris as a 7th Yoruba state!

This is Sad:
Ocean surge wants to swallow Ogheye Egboroke Community. What are our House of Representatives member doing about it?
You cannot be voted as a Rep and careless about your constituency.
🤦🏾♂️ People's homes are in the ocean.

If we don't tell our story, outsiders will tell us their version. Here is the danger of not staying abreast with our history within the Nigerian context. Imagine what we are going through right now with our neighbours, who believe we are swamp dwellers.

Dear @AmadiIkwerre Aka TheTribes on Facebook,
It's astonishing to see the extent of your desperation to spread falsehoods and misinformation. Your claims that the Igbos saved us from the Western Region and that Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh begged Zik to save us from the Yoruba are not only laughable but also a clear indication of your derangement or plain stupidity.
Let me set the record straight: Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh was an Itsekiri, and his political achievements were a result of his own efforts and the support of the Itsekiri and Yoruba people. We were never marginalized in the Western Region, and we never complained of being oppressed by the Yoruba. In fact, we had two prominent politicians, Chief Arthur Edward Prest and Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh, who held significant positions in the region.
Chief Arthur Prest was a member of the Action Group (AC) party and served as a regional minister in Ibadan, where he was deputy leader to Chief Obafemi Awolowo. He was later appointed federal minister for communications in 1952. On the other hand, Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh was a member of the NCNC party and was supported by Yoruba members of the party. Chief Richard Akinjide, SAN, once stated that Chief Okotie-Eboh was the Treasurer of the NCNC and made significant financial contributions to the party. He was described as the go-getter of Prime Minister Balewa's cabinet. In 1951, he was elected into the Western Region House of Assembly, and in 1954, he became the treasurer of the NCNC. By 1955, he was appointed federal minister of labour and social welfare, and in 1957, he became the first federal minister of finance, a position he held until his death in 1966.
So, I ask you, how did the Yoruba people marginalize us? The truth is, they didn't. We coexisted peacefully in the Western Region. Your lies and misinformation are an insult to our people.
The creation of the Mid-West Region was not driven by tribalism but by political rivalry between the NCNC and AC parties. The Itsekiri people never wanted to leave the Western Region, and even Chief Okotie-Eboh did not support the idea. In fact, because of his opposition to the new region movement, Dennis held a press conference accusing Festus Okotie-Eboh of anti-party politics and activities. He also claimed that Festus Okotie-Eboh accused him of being part of a conspiracy against the Itsekiri people after the rigged vote against the Itsekiri's. This is a clear indication of the tension and mistrust that existed between Dennis and Chief Okotie-Eboh, and it further highlights the fact that the Itsekiri people were not in favor of leaving the Western Region.
Despite our people voting massively against leaving the Western Region, the results were manipulated to show otherwise. This led to fear and protests among the Itsekiri, as it was clear that the results were rigged. Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh wrote to Dennis Chukude Osadebay, expressing his concerns about a conspiracy against the Itsekiri people. (See pic 2 below)
Your admiration for Festus Okotie-Eboh is hypocritical, considering your support for the 1966 coup that took his life. You and your cohorts have repeatedly labeled those killed in the 1966 coup as corrupt politicians without any evidence to support such claims. How did you help us? The truth is, you didn't. The assassination of Festus Okotie-Eboh weakened the Itsekiri people, leaving us vulnerable to those who sought to destroy us. Despite this, we protected your people during the Nigerian Civil War, offering refuge to your women and children in our homes and islands. You should be grateful to us, not spread falsehoods about our legends.
Take our tribe's name out of your mouth. You did nothing for us; instead, you destroyed our lands, adding us to the useless region that politically rendered us useless. This led to the worst Bendel State, which eventually became the disastrous Delta State, resulting in the loss of over 2,000 Itsekiri lives.

Without the indigenous people controlling political power, how will they protect their indigenous civilization and heritage? A fundamental question every Itsekiri born must think deep to respond to as we demand Warri State

The harsh reality, whether you like it or not, is that Delta State is a failed state, becoming a breeding ground for ethnic rivalry, violence, extremism, and oppression. It's time for a change, and the call for the creation of #Warristate is gaining momentum. We wholeheartedly support this movement, and we also stand in solidarity with the people of Delta North who have been advocating for the establishment of Anioma State for over 50 years. Similarly, the Itsekiri people have been calling for the creation of Warri State for over 32 years, and their voices cannot be ignored.
It's unacceptable that Delta State has degenerated into a private entity that only serves the interests of a particular tribe, leaving others marginalized, disenfranchised, and without a voice. Enough is indeed enough! The creation of Warri State is no longer a matter of if, but when. It's a necessity that will bring about much-needed development, representation, and equality to the region.
For the sake of peace and prosperity, it's time to consider a more equitable solution. We propose that both Warri and Anioma States be created, allowing the people of these regions to finally be free from the ethnic rivalries of Delta State and to control their own affairs. Meanwhile, those who claim that Delta State belongs to them can finally have it all to themselves. This approach will not only bring an end to the long-standing agitations but also pave the way for a more harmonious and prosperous coexistence among the various ethnic groups in the region.

The Olu of Warri is not just a king, but a first class monarch in Nigeria. Having a tribe denigrate his person, throne and people is a call for a rethink of co-existence. Just as the Anioma people seek their own state, Itsekiri demand for #WarriState. We need a sense of self.
When I read the comments under an article about the Olu of Warri, I realized that we can't force these people to love or coexist peacefully with us. It's clear that some individuals are driven by hate, and it's pointless to try to change their mindset.
The constant barrage of hateful and insulting comments from the Urhobo’s online has made it clear that we will never be able to find common ground with them, especially since their ultimate goal is to undermine the Itsekiri people. I've come to the conclusion that it's futile to pursue peace with them. Instead, we should focus our energy on seeking autonomy and breaking free from Delta State.

Happy New Month Olu Oma dede and Oodua family!
May this month be a time of growth and joy for us all. Let’s continue to pray and advocate for Warri State and a beautiful relationship, building a brighter future for our community. 🙏🏾
#HappyNewMonth #Itsekiri #Oodua #WarriState

We fully support the Anioma people's pursuit of their own state. The current arrangement in Delta State isn't serving anyone's interests. As Itsekiris, we also seek our own Warri State and stand in solidarity with the Anioma people in their quest.
