It is with profound sorrow that I share the heartbreaking news of the loss of three brave Soldiers from the 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, who tragically lost their lives during a vehicle recovery mission in Lithuania. We will not rest until the fourth and final Soldier is found and brought home. No words can truly capture the pain of this loss, but my deepest condolences go out to the families, friends, and fellow Soldiers mourning their heroes. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the U.S. Soldiers, Sailors, and our dedicated allies in Lithuania and Poland for their unwavering commitment in locating our fallen service members. Together, we honor their sacrifice and remain steadfast in our support for their loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

1st breakthrough in 5 days of exhausting fight with the power of the deep swamp! The divers have confirmed attachment of 1st cable to the sunken M88. Just this morning, we were pushed back again,at least 6 hours of hard work were added due to a turf landslide. In a central Vilnius church packed with military & civilians we prayed for the missing soldiers, their loved ones, & the tireless rescue team that work day-n-night 5 days in a row 🙏 And then we finally hit some luck - all that hard work delivered the 1st good news. Once 2nd cable is secured, we will stabilize the vehicle to prevent further sinking, & prepare for the extraction. We don’t want to make premature predictions. Instead, we want to support our rescuers as they continue their work with determination 🇺🇸🇱🇹💪
