It's been two weeks since the historic inaugural flight of the Ariane 6, and this just in - we received the video from our friends at #YPSat of our CubeSats being deployed! 🚀
Take a look as the @Exolaunch deployer first releases ³Cat-4, then ISTSat-1 into orbit. Both of these CubeSats are built by European university students as a part of ESA Education's Fly Your Satellite! programme.
🛰️ Built by students from Portugal’s Instituto Superior Técnico, @ISTSat_One will test new technology for tracking aircraft, using key subsystems developed by the team.
🛰️ ³Cat-4 @nanosatlabupc was developed by students at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Spain. It carries three experiments to measure important climate variables.
Both CubeSats have since received beacons and the teams are working to assess how to proceed. We hope to provide an update on mission statuses soon!
Are we the only ones who get a little Star Trek feeling of seeing these being deployed into orbit? 🌌🛰️

Es sieht schon ziemlich cool aus, wie der @Exolaunch- Deployer zuerst ³Cat-4 und dann ISTSat-1 in die Umlaufbahn entlässt. Beide CubeSats wurden von europäischen Studierenden im Rahmen des ESA-Bildungsprogramms "Fly Your Satellite!" gebaut.

✨🚀 🎉 Congratulations to the amazing ESA Young Professionals on the successful launch of YPSat on Ariane 6! Your hard work truly paid off. 💪
During its 3-hour mission, YPSat remained attached to the upper stage, capturing incredible moments of fairing separation, CubeSat deployments, and stunning views of Earth and space. 🌍✨
It also measured Earth’s magnetic field with a cutting-edge quantum-based sensor and all the data was successfully transmitted to the network of supporting ground stations. 📡🔭
Cool fact: YPSat measured the magnetic field with the magnetic field sensor OSCAR-CUBE+. The OSCAR team previously participated in ESA Academy's Experiments programme as an Orbit Your Thesis! team.
I was so proud to have been there with you on that historic day in the Mission Control Room in ESOC.
