A banana planted in a zai is a lesson in resilience Through #ZaiPits, students learn how to conserve water, improve soil health & grow food even in challenging climate conditions. Skills + soil care = food security #YouthInAgriculture #sustainableAgric @agonet05 @Agro_Ecological

Reforestation in Southern Sahara #ZaiPits In the West Sahel, farmers recover degraded land and prevent desertification by digging half-moon holes. Also called “zai pits”, they capture scarce rainwater and direct it toward growing plants. https://t.co/5quW9F1TjY

#Zaipits would be a very good agriculture method for farmers in arid and semi arid areas to reduce run-off water and increase retention of water and moisture.

The Zai concept captures rainfall and runoffs, promotes the efficient use of limited quantities of organic matter and ensures the concentration of water and soil fertility at the beginning of the rainy season #ZaiPits #smartAgriculture #farmingAfrica @CutAfrica

Machakos County, Matungulu North. The farmers are adopting Zai Pits as an ecological farming technique for water retention during the long rains. The technique is also a soil erosion prevention mechanism in slopy areas #EcologicalFarming #FoodForLife #FoodSecurity #ZaiPits 🌧
