#ICYMI: Earlier this week I presented #AB2999, The Healthy Homework Act to protect student mental health, equity and students with learning disabilities. Proud to have received bipartisan support from my colleagues and we have now sent it onward to the Senate! #CAleg

📚✨ It's time to update our approach on homework! The Healthy Homework Act (#AB2999) calls for “smarter - not harder” homework strategies policies. This isn't about mandating specific policies—it's about empowering local communities to have meaningful discussions and make informed decisions that best support our kids' education and mental health. 🧠💪 Around the world, countries with less homework boast some of the highest education scores. It's clear: a balanced approach can yield tremendous benefits. #AB2999 requires input from everyone in the community—parents, teachers, students, administrators, and mental health professionals—to ensure our homework policies are not only effective but also consider our children's well-being and overall development. 🌍📈 Let's work together to ensure our educational practices are focused on what’s most effective and are as healthy and holistic as possible.

Asm. @Pilar4CA introduced the ‘Healthy Homework Act,’ a bill that was inspired by her daughter, Sofia. #AB2999 doesn’t ban homework, but it does require school districts to be more intentional when developing hw guidelines. The bill is intended to improve kids’ mental health.

In a public health crisis, CA workers should be able to take time off to grieve the loss of a family member without fear of losing their jobs. #CAleg: YES on #AB2999 to provide all workers w/ up to 10 days of job-protected bereavement leave. #StrongerCA @Evan_Low @CELA_Lawyers

I’m proud to support my friend California Assemblymember @Evan_Low and his bill to guarantee that all workers can take Bereavement Leave. Let’s protect workers in times of hardship so that they can take care of themselves and their loved ones. #AB2999 https://t.co/QGNoIOjo3n

Why does @WeAreCTA support #ab2999? Problem: California workers currently have no right to bereavement leave when a close family member dies --> without time to grieve the loss of a loved one, employees return to work grief-stricken & unable to concentrate. We can fix this!

Current situation: Waiting to testify on behalf of @WeAreCTA in support of several bills in the Assembly Labor Committee: #ab2765 #ab2999 #ab3216. I am skeptical that this will occur before 11am when I will need to testify in support of #ab2329 and #ab2405 in Assembly Housing.
