It’s the last weekend of the year when Lake Washington Boulevard is low-pollution, accessible and family-friendly park — get out there and enjoy it! #AccessibleLWB
Bicycle Weekends on Lake Washington Blvd. is happening this weekend! 🚴🏾♂️ We invite the community to bike, jog or stroll along the boulevard between the Seward Park entrance and Mount Baker Park’s beach during the event times. https://t.co/850tAFTTTO

Should parks be for kids to run around freely or for two lanes of speeding traffic? Lake Washington Boulevard is owned by @seattleparks (including the roadway), so why do we treat it like a speedway most of the time? #AccessibleLWB

While tomorrow is a holiday, unfortunately this year's #AccessibleLWB weekends do not include Monday holidays as part of the weekend.
Happy to announce a beginner and kid friendly bike/roll to #AccessibleLWB event next Saturday at Noon starting from the Mt Baker Light Rail station with a stop for coffee along the way.
If you have ever wondered how to access LWB by transit + bike this ride is for you!
The path next to Lake Washington Boulevard, where it exists, is broken up and not accessible. Dedicating even half the street as a safe place for people🚶🏻♀️👩🏾🦽👩🏼🦼would create access for all. #AccessibleLWB

Beautiful evening for the @peacepeloton ride on Lake Washington Boulevard open street! #AccessibleLWB #SeattleShines #GoodVibes
Meet Andy and Edio. They biked up from Rainier Beach to enjoy the Lake Washington Boulevard open street, and are loving it! Edio says “it’s a great year to tap into your childhood and do what you always loved.” #GoodVibes #AccessibleLWB #SeattleShines

The latent demand for #accessibleLWB is massive. If we dedicated just half of the street to an accessible and family-friendly trail, this PARK would be the Alki, Burke Gilman, or Green Lake of the south end. https://t.co/YmXH4OvDZx
95% of people driving on Lake Washington Boulevard speed! This street is owned by @SeattleParks, let’s treat it like a park not a speedway.
LA, DC, and SF have all converted park streets into places for people. Why not Seattle? https://t.co/iVHSdaIVVo #AccessibleLWB
According to an SDOT's speed study done between December 13 and 19th the average speed on Lake Washington Boulevard at Horton is 32MPH with a max speed of 86mph. LWB is designed as a dangerous race course. It's only a matter of time before someone dies on the street.

DC, San Francisco, & LA have all converted roads through parks to spaces for people this year. No one wants to put cars back on the Seward Park loop or Lincoln Park path. Let's make Lake Washington Boulevard into the accessible and family-friendly park it can be. #AccessibleLWB.

.@CathyTuttle asked me on Mastodon which five Seattle streets I love. Here are my picks — what are yours?
Franklin Ave E #SchoolStreet
Lake Washington Boulevard as #AccessibleLWB
Occidental Ave #PedestrianStreet
42nd Ave S P-Patch diverter #HealthyStreets
Ballard Ave #CafeStreet

On #stayhealthystreets: We wrote about how the program should evolve back in 2021 https://t.co/QihuvfAVir.
A bold implementation of this program would include investments like car diverters that keep kids and families safe. It would also dedicate half of LWB for #AccessibleLWB

@MarleyBlonsky For me it's a tie between biking with friends and family on #AccessibleLWB and seeing all the kiddos having a blast, and biking with friends late in the evening during the Seattle summer when the air is still warm and the twilight seems to last forever.

Streets in parks should be places for people to play, walk, bike, run, stroll, relax, skate etc — not dangerous speedways. #AccessibleLWB

Congrats San Francisco! You showed the country there is strong support for the idea that streets in parks should be for people to walk, bike, run, skate, roll, and play — not speed through in a car.
Seattle, let’s make #AccessibleLWB a reality (even though it won’t be easy)!
We are so grateful to all the volunteers, advocates, and San Francisco voters who came together to make the JFK Promenade permanent (again!)
Tonight is about a better, more hopeful future for our kids, our parks, our streets and our city.
Thank you San Francisco 🙏
Even on a rainy November day Lake Washington Boulevard is well loved by people walking and biking. #AccessibleLWB

Let's make Lake Washington Boulevard a more accessible and welcoming place to walk/bike/roll for all! Please fill out the city's survey on permanent improvements: https://t.co/VH3pfgog4E
Even if you have filled out previous surveys, we need you to respond to this one too. Thanks!

Great streets and waterfront parks are perfect together. The #StayHealthyStreets / parks that are getting permanent improvements:
✅ Green Lake
✅ Alki
Thank you @Spottnik @seattleshines, @CMDanStrauss, and @Lisa_Herbold!
Hopefully #AccessibleLWB is next!
Great Alki walk with @Lisa_Herbold and community members. The sun was peeking out across the water and the views were spectacular

Great to see the San Francisco Parks Department embrace the JFK Promenade (even as it goes through a contentious public debate/vote!). I hope @SeattleParks @seattleshines will support public spaces, cultural events, and recreational opportunities on LWB next year! #AccessibleLWB
Come out to 8th Avenue at the JFK promenade and take a coffee break at Golden Gate Park’s new lounge! New trees will provide shade on this sunny day with a variety of seating options, including new spinning chairs! See you at the park!

Went to a @SNGreenways event and then a @familybikesea event today and it was so great to meet Twitter folks in person for the first time! We were just starting into this space in January of 2020… [womp womp] Very excited for the future. #UngapTheMap #AccessibleLWB
Thank you @CMTammyMorales, @MayorofSeattle, @SeattleParks, and @seattledot for another joyous weekend on Lake Washington Boulevard. Next year let’s do more than summer weekends. This amazing community space should be open to people🧑🦽🚶🏽♀️🚴🏽🏃♀️ 🛼🛴🦯every day! #AccessibleLWB

Don’t miss the last weekend this year to enjoy the Lake Washington Boulevard healthy street! 🧑🦽🚴🏽🏃♀️🛼🚶🏽♀️
We’re working to keep it this amazing park street family friendly all year: https://t.co/7UoM8pbURk
