I don't know which bunch of crazy people sold this idea that marriage was a bed of roses, that it is romantic, or it's enjoyment, or that it brings happiness. That's BS. Marriage is added responsibility. There are more stressful days than happy days. If your own weird habits are not enough, you also have to adjust with one more person's weird habits. You fight over things which you would not have fought over, if you were alone. Then why should people marry? Well, you should only marry if you want to build a legitimate family (have kids), and you know the reality of added responsibilities. To live a married life, needs two people with character, with strength to sacrifice their own desires (if needed), to adapt, to forgive, to ignore some flaws, etc. It's duty amplified. Marriage doesn't give freedom, neither it's happy all the time. It doesn't just make you responsible for your own happiness. It also makes you responsible for not making your partner unhappy. Marriage gives you a person who is a witness to your otherwise ordinary life. To some, it gives a sense of purpose. To those, who don't know how to live nicely for themselves, they learn how to live nicely for their family. To some, it provides a support system when they are down. But, to some, their family itself brings them down. Marriage is a selfless service. A happy marriage is where both the partners do this service to each other. It's not a compulsory thing to do at 30 years of age. It's a highly self aware thing to do. If you don't know yourself, don't know what you want from life, marriage can become the prison which will not just suffocate you, but also diminish you. It's that one decision of life, which needs the maximum amount of rational thinking. Think wisely. Think hard!
