Very interesting to see several converging papers pointing to '#basaloid'/Krt8+ ADI cells observed briefly during regeneration, with senescence features, but that persist in chronic #lung_disease and may be causal in these diseases.

[10/10] Based on our findings we propose that IPF in particular and chronic lung diseases in general may be rooted in defective molecular cell differentiation checkpoints that lead to aberrant persistence of (normally transient) regenerative intermediate cell states.
