We used acoustic detectors to survey insectivorous bats over a 2-year period at the Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragments Project (#BDFFP) in Brazil. We sampled 33 sites, comprising continuous old-growth forest, remnant fragments and regenerating secondary forest matrix.

The Amazon is the world’s epicenter of bat diversity. Yet, the reproductive phenology of Amazonian #bats remains poorly known. The amazing @Tropiquentin used our dataset from the #BDFFP to examine the reproductive phenology of 9 spp. Paper available at: https://t.co/W8X9AihyMJ

This work is the result of many months of a fantastic field work experience at the #BDFFP project, the world’s longest project to understand the effects of forest fragmentation in Central Amazonia. A huge thanks to the field assistants, in particular to Renann Dias Silva. (7/8)

Our🦇 data from the #BDFFP showed, among other things, that the transposition of ideas from the Island Biogeography Theory - 1st put forward by E. O. Wilson - to terrestrial settings can be hampered by the dynamic nature of human-dominated landscapes https://t.co/J9kAbW9Gr8

My PhD fieldwork took place at the Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragments Project, which T Lovejoy started in the 70s. Despite spending >2.5 years (2011-2014) in the field - including multiple weeks at the famous Camp 41 - I never had the chance to cross paths with him. #BDFFP

This is us in a Malaise trap installed in a secondary forest of #BDFFP (Cabo Frio camp). Juruna (Ocírio Souza) was our enthusiastic field technician during the collections, and we were very happy that @Ascom_Inpa recently gave him an honorable mention 😊 https://t.co/hLTdzvG7Et
