Public violence and participating in a gathering with intent to promote public violence are serious crimes enshrined in Sections 36 and 37 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act [Chapter 9:23], respectively. They attract up to 10 years imprisonment.
On a positive note, the Minister of Home Affairs, Dr. Kazembe Kazembe, has confirmed that security forces are prepared to respond to any unlawful activities associated with the planned protests.
