Over three days, Zimbabwean anti-corruption practitioners, prosecutors & investigative journalists built skills to combat IFFs using the Common African Position on Asset Recovery (#CAPAR).
Three working groups tackled key challenges:
1️⃣ Advocacy actions to prevent IFFs & corruption
2️⃣ Communication strategies during investigations (protecting sensitive data)
3️⃣ Sensitizing media & civil society on recovered & returned assets
Key takeaways from the Outcome Statement:
• Strengthened collaboration between ZACC, law enforcement, media & CSOs is essential.
• Whistleblower protection laws & data transparency in asset recovery must be prioritized.
• Public awareness & simplified messaging on IFFs are critical for citizen engagement.

A 3-day Capacity Building Workshop on Illicit Financial Flows & Asset Recovery (#CAPAR) is being held in Harare🇿🇼 (8–10 Dec 2024), uniting Zimbabwean anti-corruption practitioners & investigative journalists with AU experts to strengthen Africa’s fight against corruption and reclaim stolen wealth.
