At #COP29, #UNDPinPakistan Resident Representative @samuelrizk in a video message commended Pakistan as the first Asian country to access support from @theGlobalShield to address the #financialprotection gap through pre-arranged finance. Pakistan's #CDRFI support request was officially handed over by @ClimateChangePk, reaffirming commitment to strengthen financial & technical capacity for safeguarding livelihoods, crops, and infrastructure in high-risk areas.
Recently in Tonga 🇹🇴, @TheGlobalShield workshop explored innovative #CDRFI tools, including the UNDP-UNCDF supported Pacific Insurance and Climate Adaptation Programme's #ParametricInsurance scheme, which has covered 1,661 Tongans against cyclonic winds since 2022.
🌍 The #GlobalShield was officially launched in #TheGambia 🇬🇲 last week bringing together key stakeholders to advance strategies for #CDRFI. Looking forward to continuing this process towards a comprehensive climate risk finance strategy and strengthening financial #resilience!
