LPA over Jharkhand gradually initiating a pull effect on the #Konkan coast.
Amber warning 🟠 issued for #Palghar #Raigad and #Ratnagiri for a few heavy-very heavy spells of rains between 1-3 July.
Wednesday 2nd, likely to be a rainy day for #Mumbai, suburbs, #Thane #NaviMumbai with intermittent moderate - heavy #MumbaiRains with isol very heavy spells. Total 2 day accumulation (2-3 Jul) for MMR likely to be 100-200 mm, most of which is expected on Wednesday.
4th will see a reduction again, with another heavy spell likely from 6th July.
Regarding the extremely heavy Mumbai downpours, there's been a change in dates, and the next possibility is now around 6/7 July.
#Raigad district saw much more #KonkanRains than expected, with pull-effect of LPA over Jharkhand yesterday, which I didn't anticipate.

Amber warnings 🟠issued across #Konkan coast from #Palghar to #Sindhudurg on Monday for heavy to very heavy rains. #Mumbai MMR likely to see triple digit #MumbaiRains on 16th. Refer below post for details 👇
On Tuesday and Wednesday, intensity will reduce slightly, but moderate to heavy showers will continue under a strong monsoon surge with gusty winds towards the coast 🌬️. Thursday can again see a slight increase in rains.
With strong westerlies, ghats and catchments should start receiving worthwhile rainfall this week. On average konkan coast can see 20-80mm daily between 17-19th.
#Marathwada, #Vidarbha and Madhya Maha including #Pune will see a reduction in thunderstorms activities as westerlies strengthen, leading to typical monsoon weather for interiors - Cloudy skies with passing light-mod showers and breezy conditions. Heavy rains are not expected thru this week over interior #Maharashtra in absence of Bay LPA.

As mentioned earlier, #ShearZone will be crossing over #Mumbai 19° latitude on 14 & 15 June. So despite the offshore #trough being active, main rainbands will remain out at sea owing to lack of westerlies to push them in.
However, with CC climbing latitude from #Ratnagiri at same time, #Raigad & MMR will fall under #ConvergenceFlank. This will result in spontaneous thunderstorms forming post 12th evening over ghats & interior MMR. Winds will carry these mostly from NE to SW direction and where they converge, these TS will merge to give longer spells of rains. Coastal regions likely to see self pop ups, especially overnight into morning hrs. Most of MMR can expect 20-80mm accumulations, with 100mm in the heaviest thunderstorms ⛈️
Issuing Amber warning 🟠 for Raigad for Friday and Saturday as very heavy rains likely especially at the coast and south Raigad. Amounting to 200-300mm in 48 hrs! Likely to cause issues with localised flooding and travel disruption ⚠️
Thus, MMR will still see a rainy weekend, with on off mod-heavy TS. Typical westerlies driven downpours from Monday.
As was hinted earlier, Dry air is hindering typical #rain activity over #Mumbai & #MMR so far with no offshore trough support.
However, there might be a slight increase in rainfall arnd 4/5th July & then after 7th depending on the #BOB system!
