In the photo, we see dark #coronalloops during the decay of an X1.3 class flare.
Coronal loops are arcs of #plasma that follow the #Sun's magnetic field lines. They often precede solar flares, which occur because some #magneticfield lines twist and break, releasing huge amounts of energy. This energy release powers #solarstorms that can affect #Earth's critical #infrastructure.
