@afghan_rf UNHCR Central Asia: Stop repeating failed formulas! Exclude "local integration" from the 2027 Strategy and prioritize third-country resettlement for mandate refugees. #DropLocalIntegration #UNHCR2027 #UNHCR_Cent_Asia #RefugeePolicy #ResettlementNow #DurableSolutions #KYRGYZSTAN

A 25-year-old human situation cannot be answered with another 25 years of monitoring. 'Local integration' in #Kyrgyzstan is a proven failure — remove it from the 2027 Strategy #DropLocalIntegration #UNHCR #ResettlementNow #AfghanRefugees #HumanRights #CentralAsia #USRAP

Afghan Mandate Refugees of UNHCR in Kyrgyzstan @afghan_rf

🇰🇬 25+ YEARS IN A LEGAL TRAP: TRAPPED BETWEEN INSTITUTIONAL INACTION AND REFUSALS For over a quarter-century, ~100 #UNHCR-mandate Afghan refugees (predominantly vulnerable women & children) in #KYRGYZSTAN have been left in complete legal limbo. The absurdity of the situation is clear: 🔹 Arbitrary Refusals: National authorities denied state refugee status and residence permits without clear or legally justified grounds, exhausting judicial options up to the Supreme Court. 🔹 UNHCR Mandate Recognition: Following a thorough, independent review of our cases, UNHCR concluded that national denials were completely ungrounded and officially placed us under international mandate protection. 🔹 Systemic Non-Recognition & Deadlock: Despite this official recognition, host state institutions refuse to acknowledge UNHCR mandate status, leaving families without basic rights, work permits, or legal security. 🔹 Caught in the Middle: We are trapped between unjustified state-level refusals and international agencies that offer monitoring instead of active resettlement. We do not ask for impossible integration where it has been systematically blocked for decades. 🇦🇺🇨🇦🇬🇧🇺🇸 RESETTLEMENT IS THE ONLY LOGICAL STEP When local pathways are arbitrarily closed and return is unsafe, third-country resettlement is not just an option — it is the only viable, humane solution. 🌍 OUR DEMANDS FOR THE UPCOMING 2027 UNHCR STRATEGY: 1️⃣ DROP "LOCAL INTEGRATION" from all strategy frameworks for this community — decades of ungrounded refusals have proven this approach a failure. 2️⃣ OFFICIALLY PRIORITIZE THIRD-COUNTRY RESETTLEMENT in the 2027 Strategy and refer these ~100 verified cases to donor countries immediately. 3️⃣ ESTABLISH CLEAR TIMELINES: We demand that @UNHCR_Cent_Asia and UN Resident Coordinator #BrianWilliams stop using temporary monitoring and commit to a concrete roadmap for our group. 🇰🇬 OUR DIRECT APPEAL TO KYRGYZ AUTHORITIES: We urge President @sadyrzhaparovkg, MP @ElviraSur, and @MFA_Kyrgyzstan to actively facilitate diplomatic channels and cooperate with international partners to enable our resettlement rather than maintaining an unresolved deadlock. Stop using temporary fixes for a 25-year-old human tragedy. We need action, clear timelines, and a secure future. 🕊️ #Kyrgyzstan #AfghanRefugees #MandateRefugees #ResettlementNow #DurableSolutions #UNHCR #RefugeeRights #HumanRights #CentralAsia #Bishkek #ThirdCountryResettlement Cc: @sadyrzhaparovkg @ElviraSur @MFA_Kyrgyzstan @Refugees @UNHCR_Cent_Asia @UNHumanRights @un_kyrgyzstan @antonioguterres @USEmbassyKG @StateDept @StatePRM @CanadaDev @randeepssarai @ukhomeoffice @ShabanaMahmood @FCDOGovUK @UKMissionGeneva @ukinkyrgyzstan @AlboMP @ausgov @dfat @MFATNZ @NewZealandMFA @IOMchief @UNmigration @hrw @AmnestyEECA @amnesty @BarhamSalih @CitImmCanada @IRAP @JFCrisp @AishaWahab @MAshrafHaidari @UN_Spokesperson @UN_SPExperts @NRC_Norway @CitImmCanada @HIASrefugees @RefugeesIntl

For over a quarter-century, ~100 #UNHCR-mandate Afghan refugees (predominantly vulnerable women & children) in #KYRGYZSTAN have been left in complete legal limbo.
The absurdity of the situation is clear:
🔹 Arbitrary Refusals: National authorities denied state refugee status and residence permits without clear or legally justified grounds, exhausting judicial options up to the Supreme Court.
🔹 UNHCR Mandate Recognition: Following a thorough, independent review of our cases, UNHCR concluded that national denials were completely ungrounded and officially placed us under international mandate protection.

We do not ask for impossible integration where it has been systematically blocked for decades.
🇦🇺🇨🇦🇬🇧🇺🇸 RESETTLEMENT IS THE ONLY LOGICAL STEP
When local pathways are arbitrarily closed and return is unsafe, third-country resettlement is not just an option — it is the only viable, humane solution.
🌍 OUR DEMANDS FOR THE UPCOMING 2027 UNHCR STRATEGY:
