Le 9 juillet, nous alertions : « Un transfert en plein été peut tuer. » Nous dénoncions les risques liés aux fortes chaleurs, au stress du transport et à la rupture des liens sociaux. Nous nous sommes mobilisés et avons saisi la justice pour empêcher ce transfert. Il a été maintenu malgré nos alertes. Nous avions également prévenu : « S’ils passent en force, ils porteront la responsabilité des conséquences. » Nous maintenons ces mots. Rocky est mort. Le gouvernement et les responsables de son transfert doivent maintenant rendre des comptes. Nous attendons des informations précises sur les circonstances et les causes de sa mort. Comme pour les cétacés de Marineland Canada, la succession de décès après les transferts renforce nos inquiétudes. Cette chronologie exige que le rôle du transport et des conditions d’accueil soit examiné de manière indépendante. Nous exigeons la transparence sur les conclusions vétérinaires et sur les décisions prises malgré les risques signalés. Toutes les responsabilités devront être établies. Aucune faute ne devra rester impunie. Nous ne laisserons pas la mort de Rocky être passée sous silence.
