From one small dinner 12 years ago to a 500-strong founder community.
Yesterday, I finally stepped into the #Foundrs Christmas Party.
And it made me reflect on something I haven’t talked about enough.
At https://t.co/WQ7YcVBPbq, we’ve now raised $9M to date but I haven’t talked enough about the unseen struggles behind it.
Because founders don’t fail from pressure.
We fail from pretending we don’t need help.
So I did one thing:
I asked for help
I cold-emailed @danmurrays.
I’d been putting it off… but one message turned into:
📍 His investment
📍 Investor intros
📍 Deck rewrites
📍 Strategy fixes
📍 Even share class discussions
One ask → ten doors.
That’s why this community matters.
And this week proved it.
I had brilliant conversations with @markrushmore (#SURI), @saashaN8 (@Olio_ex), @tsyrklevich (@Parkopedia), @dom_maskell (@runna), #AJ . (#scalewithsoul), #AmritaDas, #LauraWynch plus dozens more founders doing important, ambitious work.
Founders didn’t start with a big vision.
It started with Dan’s own ask for one dinner.
Twelve years later, it’s become a room where founders don’t have to perform strength.
We can be real. We can ask. We can lean.
As founders, we don’t just need capital.
We need places where asking for help isn’t weakness. It’s leadership.

2. Bootstrapped Infamous Media (Secret Leaders) & our 2nd full-timer started last week. We have cash to run & grow it for 2021 🙏
