WHAT IS IHIC ? - Which was successfully launched in 2022 in #MadhyaPradesh The India Hypertension Control Initiative #IHCI is a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, @MoHFW_INDIA the Indian Council of Medical Research @ICMRDELHI , State governments, & World Health Organization @WHO India. Launched in 2017, IHCI aims to reduce #hypertension prevalence and improve blood pressure control across the country.
RECENT DEVELOPMENTS:
MAY 2023-The Union Health Ministry introduced the "75/25" initiative, targeting the screening and standard care provision for 75 million individuals with hypertension and diabetes by 2025. This ambitious plan includes training 40,000 Primary Health Care Medical Officers on Standard Treatment Workflows for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) through the Shashakt Portal. Additionally, revised operational guidelines for the National Programme for Prevention and Control of #NCDs were released to expand coverage and integrate services for conditions like Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease COPD Chronic Kidney Disease #CKD , and Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Diseases #NAFLD alongside hypertension and #diabetes.
SEPTEMBER 2022: IHCI received the 2022 UN Interagency Task Force and WHO Special Programme on Primary Health Care Award. This recognition highlights India's effective, large-scale hypertension intervention within its primary health care system, emphasizing the successful multisectoral action to prevent and control NCDs by delivering integrated primary care.
APRIL 2022: IHCI expanded its reach to over 15,000 health facilities across 100 districts, enrolling more than 2.5 million patients with hypertension. Notably, nearly 47% of these patients had their blood pressure under control during their most recent visit in the first quarter of 2021.
These milestones underscore IHCI's commitment to enhancing hypertension management and control in India, contributing significantly to the nation's broader goal of reducing premature mortality due to NCDs by 25% by 2025.

The valley is situated at a considerable depth, with some sources stating it's 1200-1500 feet below the surrounding hills. It's known for its horse-shoe shape, surrounded by hills.Valley features rocks from the Archaean era, including granite gneiss, green schists, and Gondwana sediments.
The Doodhi river flows through the valley. Patalkot is home to dense forests, medicinal plants, and herbs, making it a biodiversity hotspot. The valley is inhabited by the Bharia tribe, who have a rich cultural heritage.

The India Hypertension Control Initiative by ICMR Simple app has been implemented in over 20,000 government hospitals and health centers across 150 districts in 26 states, managing over 34 lakh hypertension and 14 lakh diabetes patients. The app has increased blood pressure control rates from 32% to 46% in 24 months.
