Below is a letter asking @DrAdrianJames @rcpsych to meet ECT victims so we can tell our harrowing stories. In the spirit of #Cumberlege review we ask for an apology, improved safety proceedures and an era of openess and honesty @ClinpsychLucy @ReadReadj @JoanneD_ @andyluff8
@Samoskal @CunliffeSue 1940's #ECT began worldwide b4 pre-market approval safety testing requirements. When Drs made #ECT machines 4-6x stronger after introducing anesthesia req'd more electricity, ZERO PMA safety studies using modern techniques done bc of grandfathering clause. https://t.co/6aYHCzKDX0
Listen to patients. The barrier to your learning is that you don't believe that doctors ever harm patients and that the way of dealing with harmed patients is to ignore or silence them. Blogging and self promoting and pretending to be open is your barrier @drjanaway. @NickWebb30
Serious misinformation on ECT from Rotherham Trust
@rdash_nhs:
βRepeated treatments alter the chemical messages in the brain and bring them back to normal'
https://t.co/Jd72VQoKH5 @CNTWNHS hasn't removed their leaflet either.
@wendyburn @DrAdrianJames @rcpsych Please RT
@EmmaMil78154882 @CunliffeSue @rcpsych Each time we address #ECT concerns, each org passes responsibility to another org in a perpetual infinity loop, such that #HumanRights abuses continue. Where does accountability lay? @ptsafetyNHS @NHSEngland @CareQualityComm @rcpsychTrainees @rcpsychCCQI

First do no harm means ECT must be banned since there is always harm and how much or extensive it is cannot be pre-determined. Unique brain injuries and damage every time.
#PatientSafety demands #ECT suspended immediately at ALL @NHSEngland #ECTAS lapsed clinics. @CCQI_ says #ptsafetynhs priority, but amid #COVID19 nightmare, they're risking permanent #braindamage #MemoryLoss whilst no one watching. @ptsafetyNHS #AuditECT

Patient promised "safe & effective" best practices following strict guidelines, but no one's at helm. #ECT Accreditation standards aren't met, yet ECT continues. Drs say harm doesn't happen & adverse events are "rare." #HowDoTheyKnow? Sign here to change! https://t.co/n0MYjdgTUD

@phanson1253 @HopkinsMedicine Things @HopkinsMedicine video on #ECT fails to mention:
A. Manufacturer admits 7 risks assoc'd w/ permanent #braindamage #MemoryLoss
B. Procedure never had safety studies using modern machines/parameters
C. Treatment isn't standardized or regulated.

@BillyBo58678428 @paulaannev @andyluff8 @NickWebb30 @CherylPrax #ECT (#ShockTreatment) used w/ increasing vigor although unregulated w/o standardized dosing. Can be used whenever Drs feel needed, not necessarily last resort (implying drs already tried everything else) I got it for what turned out to be encephalopathy. https://t.co/qHc9WjvQki
Things i can no longer do or comprehend daily due to ECT brain damage - Cook a meal - Do personal care - Read a book - Watch tv - Play the playstation - Hold meaningful conversations - Write poetry - Understand the world i live in - All the simple things you know.
@PsychRecovery @ChrisNowinski1 @IPBIS I do not understand inflicting injuries of this kind, which common sense tells us to avoid. Ok, boxers know and consent to the risks of their sport. Survivors of ECT are told they are being cared for and receiving treatment. What the hell??? This is the real madness.

@rcpsychNeuro @rcpsych @ExCeLLondon Looking forward to hearing how #RCPsychIC addresses iatrogenic #ABI/#TBI caused by #ECT & what new measures will be put in place to prioritize #PatientSafety, address #riskmanagement & provide #Rehab bc #MedicalDevice manual update lists 7 risks assoc'd w/ permanent #braindamage

@PsychRecovery
Yes it can. It shouldnβt be caused by doctors admin repeated craniocerebral trauma (EI) with a side order of grand mal seizures.
Updates on legal action. Inadequate consent, testing, warning, and no SOPβs. Russian roulette.
