Factor analysis is for the birds. Academic #psychology should do what it’s doing to revive #idiographic research but for theory-based (rational) test construction & get people excited about the field again (ie come up w some old method, relabel it, upgrade it cf. experience sampling methods/EMA).
Factor analysis obscures more than it explains by reducing complex patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving to only those patterns in which all logically line up with one another which is hardly ever the case with humans let alone humans with personality pathology. #Rational
