Nachdem die Mission offiziell 7 Tage nach der Mondlandung beendet war, gab es dennoch eine geringe Chance, dass es nach der Mondnacht wieder zu einer Kontaktaufnahme kommen "könnte"..
Bevor seine Batterien nach Anbruch der Mondnacht erschöpft waren, brachte man #Odysseus in eine Konfiguration, die eine erneute Kontaktaufnahme mit den Bodenstationen ermöglichen sollte.
Nachdem wieder genügend Sonnenlicht am Landeplatz vorhanden war, bestand die Möglichkeit, dass der Lander seine Batterien wieder auflädt und ein Signal sendet.
Seit dem 20. März hat das Team von Intuitive Machines erfolglos diesem Signal gesucht..
Gestern entschied man sich nun, dass die Prognosen korrekt waren und das Energiesystem von Odysseus keinen weiteren Kontakt ermöglichen würde.
Trotz Probleme bei der Landung, kann man die erste kommerzielle Mondlandung durchaus als Erfolg werten.

As of March 23rd at 1030 A.M. Central Standard Time, flight controllers decided their projections were correct, and Odie’s power system would not complete another call home. This confirms that Odie has permanently faded after cementing its legacy into history as the first commercial lunar lander to land on the Moon. 3/3
As previously announced on February 29th, our IM-1 mission ended seven days after landing, as Odysseus’ mission was not intended to survive the harsh temperatures of the lunar night. Before its batteries were depleted, flight controllers tucked Odie into a configuration that could call home if various systems outperformed manufacturer expectations. 🧵 1/3 (23MAR2024 1345 CST)

Unfortunately the signal we thought it could be #IM1 @Int_Machines is in fact from COSMOS 2518. Too proof it, we moved our 20m antenna to COSMOS 2518 and found it to be very strong.. thus, we were receiving it through a side lobe. 😵💫
