I am motivated to help bring the mindframe of my school to cultivate assessment-capable visible learners.
speaking the language of learning can encourage our school to be a school wide team to enhance and deepen the understanding on ones impact on learning. #ImpactLearningKS
An eye opening moment this week, realizing how ineffective ability grouping and tracking are. With an effect size of .12, it clear that students perform better when grouped heterogeneously for collaborative work.- Ben Luna #ImpactLearningKS
Working on my ACVL Teacher Mindframe...when I reflect on how my lesson went I need to ask myself how did the LEARNING go, not how did the TEACHING go. #ImpactLearningKS
"keeping a trained eye on both knowledge development and metacognitive knowledge about how students learn is key... to bridge gaps" p 141. Grouping students can be a powerful tool if used correctly #impactlearningks
@DanielD46881606 I have thought about this often at my school where I teach AP level students and ESOL newcomers too. If we can have common goals for those students we can close the gaps! As a mathematics teacher, I must work to close the gap.#impactlearningks
Teaching students to self-assess their learning gives them tools to become lifelong learners. I want that for all my students. #impactlearningks
Teachers must know their impact on student learning. “How does my teaching positively impact the learning of my students?” Stop the excuses and blaming students! Focus on where they are and what we are doing to advance their learning. #ImpactLearningKS
@bestofmsberry YES! And when working with peers students must be taught to listen, consider others opinions, give their own thoughts, and come to a consensus. Skills needed in the work force today! #fostercollaboration #ImpactLearningKS

Learning needs to be about students, not curriculum. A self-questioning student is an efficient one. Nurturing students natural curiosity through questioning an discussions can change the mind set of students and impower them to become active decision makers. #ImpactLearningKS
Turning “I can” statements into “can I” statements will start helping students become self questioning students. Just another way to make success criteria useful in the classroom! #impactlearningks
@MrRosalesNHS This made me think about my advisory students’ fall goals and how I should have them go back and really think about them in this same way. Mastery>Performance #ImpactLearningKS
Let students have time to struggle, THINK, self-regulate, and figure things out. When we provide these opportunities to self-question and self-assess for our students, we teach them they are in control of their own learning. #ImpactLearningKS
This week's reading about self-questioning promoted self-questioning leading to mastery. "I want to learn to speak Spanish(mastery) rather than "I want to get an A in Spanish class(performance)" Performance orientation diminishes risk-taking and learning #impactlearningks
