My timeline was rightly full of strike related content last week but today I'm re-sharing my new (and first!) blog on the #lostmuseums site. The piece tells the story of the museum's closure and explores different perspectives on 'what museums are' and 'who they are for'.

The ambitious design included a bear pit, rhinos, a museum and island hermitage, with site planting and animals divided into north and south hemispheres. This was never fulfilled despite opening on 28 June 1838, Queen Victoria's coronation day
This morning I've started writing the 'About' page for what will be my blog on #lostmuseums. It feels *so good* not to be thinking in the format of a journal article for once.
Managed some pics of former Church Farmhouse Museum in Hendon b4 being moved on by security. The lease to the uni was made on the premise that 'community use' + 'access' would be maintained. Love that there's still a little 'collection' of waymarkers out back though #lostmuseums

#lostmuseums for #MuseumsUnlocked is so relevant for #Portsmouth museum in our 125th year. Our first museum opened on 21st January 1895 in the old town hall in Portsmouth High Street but it was bombed on 10th January 1941, we lost much of the collection but rose again! #PM125
A joly theme for today’s #MuseumsUnlocked: #Abandonment #EmptySpaces and #LostMuseums... my contribution is Tyneham in Dorset, a village deserted in 1943 and now a tourist attraction... so an abandoned space which is now a heritage site. Weird.
