@IM_Crit_ @msiuba @sese_denise I failed to look up that acronym but yes that’s EXACTLY how it was done. #GOBSAT And that #PEEP table, established by informal consensus and canonized by #ARMA, persists to this day. @SarinaKS and @davidnhager may know more or say I’m full of stool #ARDS #lowtidalvolume

@ogi_gajic @DocNicols @MayoPCCM @PulmCrit That’s the crux of #COVID - it is a #perfectstorm. CO2 production is sky high *and* #VdVt is sky high - how to manage that with #lowtidalvolume? Heavily, very heavily sedate. But the brain is aflame too so sedation is hard. And they recruit but at lower peeps. It’s a humdinger

Recommendations in set tidal volume for patients requiring #mechanicalventilation has changed dramatically over the years. This video will discuss the evidence for and against as well as the implementation of #lowtidalvolume strategies. https://t.co/xEi8MMCW32

@md_hatton After fellowship (with Pronovost 1 month) I was the “checklist guy” @ Ohio State - my checklist has #EGDT and #xigris and #IIT and #CAMICU and all sorts of other nonsense I now know was a waste of time or harmful. Only thing that’s survived is #lowtidalvolume #ARMA

DISCLAIMER: Let it be clear: I routinely, almost always, use 6cc/kg PIBW for #tidalvolume in all pts even those w/o #ARDS and so should you. BUT, every once in a blue moon, usually w/o ARDS, a specific case demands otherwise, because other priorities supersede #lowtidalvolume
