Top Tweets for #messaginggap
Here's the problem I have with Democrats:
Republicans are literally running a singular narrative through all of their information networks around the SAVE ACT: "It's just voter ID. Everybody loves voter ID!"
Every detail of their narrative is a lie but that doesn't matter when it goes unchallenged at national scale.
Democrats do not organize or utilize that type of structure to set counter narratives grounded in truth.
They just tweet individual outrage the day of the vote.
And fascism is within one vote away from striking a fatal blow to the Republic.
Democracy deserves better.
@RubenGallego @TheDemCoalition Yes, @RubenGallego!
@timkaine also mentioned the cost involved.
But neither of you offered the SPECIFIC DETAIL that voters find MEMORABLE.
HOW MUCH TIME?
HOW MUCH MONEY?
Give us an estimate!

Rush Limbaugh used the term “femi-nazis” FOR DECADES.
Today’s #RepublicanParty has become a haven for neo-nazis, at its highest levels, and yet I’ve never once seen the term “Republi-Nazis.”
Interesting…. 🤔

This is why it's critical to press the DNC chair candidates on their solutions to the info gap. I interviewed three of the leading hopefuls about this, and Ben Wikler offers what I think is the most concrete agenda for dealing with it (see screen caps):

YES!
(This is EXACTLY what we’ve been saying about the #MessagingGap & the #RuthlessnessGap.)
Top Priorities to mitigate the Ruthlessness Gap:
1. Prioritize media.
2. #ExpandTheSCOTUS.
3. #AbolishElectoralCollege.
I'm unconvinced that Democracy can survive plutocrat-owned media combined with corporate media deregulation/consolidation. Democrats will need to prioritize media reform, eliminate filibuster & expand SCOTUS if they are able to win the Presidency and both houses of congress.
To reiterate in conclusion, VP Harris and team have thus far given a masterclass in how to mitigate the #RuthlessnessGap and the #MessagingGap — at a time when the stakes for democracy, the #RuleOfLaw, and the planet couldn’t be higher.

In short, Harris is showing how to MITIGATE the #RuthlessnessGap, i.e., stopping the #RepublicanParty politically, by trouncing them in elections;
AND how to mitigate the #MessagingGap by going on offense with bold, energetic, enthusiastic, & when needed, forceful messaging.

Yes.
As I noted last week, it’s important to remember that “WEIRD” is actually the SECOND Dem campaign message to get traction.
Part of mitigating the #RuthlessnessGap & the #MessagingGap is STAYING ON OFFENSE, *especially* when a message or meme BREAKS THROUGH.

Whether or not Tim Walz is VP pick — he’s modeled a liberal alternative, to moderate DNC politics-about-policy.
Walz says — ‘You don't win elections to bank political capital; you win elections to burn political capital and improve lives.’
This is opposite of 1990s Clinton DLC.
Harris team out the gate w/ exceptional, energetic & entertaining messaging.
Though, on one level, the press should be doing this; on another level, you can’t expect the press to raise a fuss if you won’t.
You have to DO things; SAY things; relentlessly.

Why after it concludes? Why not tonight in the middle of the Trump speech?
Dems really don’t know how to win the media war. Be ruthless! Bold! Provocative!
#MessagingGap, Before the Truth Ties Its Shoes edition.
#MessagingGap, 40-year head start edition.
Here's a big reason Trump's conviction is such a powerful moment: It shatters the myth of his invincibility. Dems need to banish the phrase "his negatives are baked in" forever, and use this against him, ruthlessly and effectively. My take:

@SER1897 That really captures the #RuthlessnessGap and the #MessagingGap!
@TheDemocrats and @SenateDems know how to harp on something!
They know how to create a relentless drumbeat of pressure!
… when they *want* to!
@BFriedmanDC The #RuthlessnessGap is the #MessagingGap is the Ruthlessness Gap is the Messaging Gap is the Ruthlessness Gap is the Messaging Gap is the Ruthlessness Gap is the Messaging Gap is the Ruthlessness Gap is the Messaging Gap is the Ruthlessness Gap is the Messaging Gap is the Ruthl
Like @brianbeutler, who I saluted recently, and @drvolts, @GregTSargent is another voice consistently emphasizing the most significant new dynamic in U.S. politics — which, 14 years ago, I termed the #RuthlessnessGap.
(As well as its corollary, which I call the #MessagingGap).
Media coverage of Republicans stampeding to NYC to attack Trump's trial as illegitimate is marred by euphemism. This isn't just "currying favor" with Trump or "expressing loyalty" or auditioning to be his veep. It's placing Trump over the rule of law. 1/
