On the night of 20 Mar 2026, heavy snowfall at Chang La (Ladakh) left multiple vehicles, including a bus, stranded around 8 PM. Battling extreme weather and near-zero visibility, #ProjectHimank teams swiftly mobilised dozers for rapid snow clearance.
Their prompt and determined response ensured the safe rescue of all stranded passengers: @BROindia
On 21 March 1997, DME Damar Bahadur of BRO was working under #projecthimank, at Rustse-Taglang La. While snow clearing a passage, his life came into danger but he maneuvered the dozer to save it. The dozer toppled down and he was crushed under it. He was posthumously awarded #ShauryaChakra
