Engagement and Impact (25% weigh) replaces the impact elements of REF21. Submissions will consist of both impact case studies and accompanying statement, taken from the disciplinary-level statement, to evidence engagement beyond case studies #REF28
Contribution to Knowledge and Understanding (50% weight)..expands outputs element of REF21 but at least 10% of the score will based on the relevant sub-section of the disciplinary-level statement on evidence of the broader contributions to the advancement of the discipline #REF28
People, Culture & Environment (25% weight). This element replaces the environment element of REF2014 & '21 & will be expanded to include assessment of research culture. Evidence to inform assessment of this element will be collected at both institutional level of UoA #REF28
The next UK research assessment exercise will be conducted in 2028, with Higher
Education Providers making their submissions in late '27. Assessment will be
undertaken by an expert sub-panel for each Unit of Assessment, working under four broader Main Panels. #REF28
