Paank Condemns the Enforced Disappearances of Four Members of a Family in Quetta Quetta, Balochistan — 19 August 2026 Paank expresses serious concern over the Enforced Disappearances of four members of a family from Gashkori Town, Quetta, in the early hours of 19 August 2026. According to information received by Paank, Umaira, 27, and Najma, 28, both daughters of Abdul Rasool and residents of Kabo, Mastung, were taken from their residence at approximately 4:00 AM. Along with them, Parisa, an 8-year-old Montessori student, and Zakir, a 1.5-year-old child, were also taken. The abductors have been identified by the family as personnel of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Frontier Corps (FC). Paank is deeply alarmed by the reported disappearance of two women and two young children, particularly the abduction of an eight-year-old child and a one-and-a-half-year-old infant. Such incidents raise grave concerns regarding the safety and fundamental rights of civilians. Paank calls upon the relevant authorities to immediately disclose the whereabouts of Umaira, Najma, Parisa and Zakir, ensure their safety, and release them if they are being held without lawful grounds. We further demand an impartial investigation into the incident and accountability for those responsible. Paank urges national and international human rights organisations to take notice of this alleged incident and call upon Pakistani authorities to end the practice of enforced disappearances and arbitrary detention in Balochistan.

Paank strongly condemns the enforced disappearance of twin brothers Muhammad and Ahmad, sons of Muhammad Yunus, by Pakistani security forces in Gebun, Balochistan. On 2 September 2026, at approximately 2:00 AM, Pakistani security forces entered their family home and forcibly took both brothers into custody. They were transferred to an undisclosed location, and the authorities have provided no information about their whereabouts, legal status, or physical condition. Muhammad and Ahmad are daily wage labourers who support their family through manual work. Neither has any political affiliation or criminal record. They were taken without a warrant, without being informed of any charges, and without access to lawyers, family members, or a court. Their unacknowledged detention constitutes an enforced disappearance and places them at serious risk of torture, ill-treatment, and other grave human rights violations. Enforced disappearance violates fundamental protections under international human rights law, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. The disappearance of Muhammad and Ahmad reflects a broader pattern of arbitrary detention, night-time raids, and enforced disappearances targeting Baloch civilians, including labourers, students, rural youth, and working-class families across Balochistan. Paank calls on the Pakistani authorities to immediately disclose the whereabouts, legal status, and condition of Muhammad and Ahmad; guarantee their protection from torture and mistreatment; provide immediate access to lawyers and family members; and either bring them before a competent court with lawful charges or release them unconditionally. Paank also calls for an end to night-time raids, secret detention, and enforced disappearances across Balochistan, and for those responsible to be investigated and held accountable. We urge the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, international human rights organizations, and the diplomatic community to press Pakistan to disclose the fate of all forcibly disappeared persons and end this practice.
