4. EXCHANGE RATE - at independence the official exchange rate was US$1: Z$0.654; the parallel (black) market exchange rate was US$1:Z$0.648. - in 2008 the parallel mkt took over, economy completely dollarised. - since ED became president the #RTGSDollar has been depreciating.

@RuairiOBradaigh @Busisa74 I suspect that they intend to maintain a stable #ZimDollar. This however needs forex reserves. I'm not sure whether the country has enough reserves to be able to buy and sell its currency in the forex market. They were concerned that #RTGSDollar was depreciating too fast.
