What a shame that the question about #RyebankFields was dismissed as being irrelevant to the future of Chorlton, along with the missed opportunity to clarify that Ryebank Fields are #Greenfield - now why ever would those in the room who know the answer choose not to say? 🤔

This is brilliant news @paulpowlesland - I hope @ManCityCouncil and @ManMetUni are watching! Our Local Plan process has been on ice for five years - we’re trying to have #RyebankFields designated as a #LocalGreenSpace via that process, but meanwhile a planning app is imminent 😟
So, the decision by the council to recommend removing the site from the local plan is not only a win for the Eden of Middlewick itself, but also sets an example for similar sites across the country: it is possible for local campaigners to organise, produce their own ecological evidence & win, even when the planning system seems set on developing a site.
The fight isn’t over yet though, as we need to ensure that the council follows through on its decision to remove Middlewick from the local plan, & then properly protects it as a wildlife site for the future. Do follow @SaveRanges & offer any help & support that you can. And do join them on a walk in the site in the springtime to see for yourself what a special place they have fought so hard to save.

How quickly 30 yr old trees, woodland & habitat has been turned into a lifeless wasteland. This apparently is what protecting green spaces, helping nature recover, stopping loss of trees & woodland to development, and tackling climate change means to @MyDoncaster . Shame on them.
